...well sort of. I don't have a sprint card, and I don't want to pay the $12.95 for the convention internet - so I am typing this for later...
You know the Mac commercials with the PC guy and the Mac guy - well I feel like the mac guy at a PC convention!
Here's the question I find myself asking: Why am I here? (Maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but so far, I am really questioning my attendance.) For those who don't know, the SBC convention is a once a year business meeting. Messengers come from churches all over the country to vote and help the convention to do whatever it is they do. I have never attended before, and honestly, I don't think I am ever going again. Why? Well, for starters I don't think I fit in. I am a Southern Baptist, but I just don't hang with these types of folks. For what it's worth, I think the days of big denomination meetings like this are dying - Young guys like myself are more interested in working, playing, or doing anything else than being here. I am sure there are plenty of young turks to take the reigns when the time comes, but I'm just not one of them. Maybe back in the day, there was a reason to come and vote, but I am not feeling it today... On the plus side of the equation, I did get a free shirt and some golf balls :)
FYI - Chapman is giving his address and he is actually compelling people to get along and let "side" matters not divide us. We'll see...
