Scuba Diving the depths of God

24263_1_ftc_dp I have never been scuba diving. I've also never done any "real" snorkeling. But in the intro to Calvin Miller's book, Into the Depths of God, he makes an amazing analogy to our walk with God and snorkeling vs. scuba diving.

Most of us are quite content as Christians to snorkel with God. We become content with only a surface knowledge of who he is and we miss the real glory that can be ours if only we would go deeper with God. Rather than staying on the surface, what we ought to do is find a way to go deeper...way down deep.

Admittedly, I'm a Calvin Miller homer. He was my favorite professor at Southwestern and we played racquetball a couple of times a week. This book though may be the best one I've ever read from him... Oddly enough, I picked it up this past week at Half Priced books - you might want to look for it yourself.
