So was it worth it? (2007 NNCC)

So, we are driving back... Over dinner last night I asked the guys (David and Keith) if it was worth our time. Keith came up with the best illustration. He said, "I feel like that money-box guy, just trying to grab every dollar I can in the short amount of time I have." Great illustration! That's totally how we all feel. We've had so much information and encouragement and everything... Here's what I am taking away:

  • Get back to where God is in charge. Get back to the place where God is everything. Get back to where his radical life is being made new in you every day... Then the vision, plan, and everything else will come...
  • Teach people to fall in love with Jesus. "Jesus changes people." I do not... So, my purpose is to connect people to Jesus so that they can experience Him and learn to really live.
  • It's not gonna work if the goal is being cool, or being anything else...but Jesus.
  • I can only reproduce what I am.

I know that all sounds really basic, but when God says the same thing over and over again - maybe its something we are supposed to listen to...
